Conveniently located next to ByGeorge Brewing Company in downtown Munising, Driftwood Deli is one of the latest dining options in Alger County. Family-owned and operated, the deli is a fast casual restaurant with a menu featuring fresh sandwiches, paninis, flatbreads, and weekly specials. They also have a grab and go cooler for those looking for a quick bite to eat.

While I was dropping off maps and posters to local businesses for the Munising Visitors Bureau a couple weeks ago, I had Driftwood Deli’s weekly special for lunch - a sun dried tomato, pesto, fresh mozzarella, spinach, and bacon panini. It was delicious and big enough to share with another person. All sandwiches come with homemade pretzels and dip, too, which is a bonus as the side is equally satisfying. Since the deli and brewery share the same building, customers are welcome to grab some food and a beer or cider at the same time making this a perfect stop to quench your hunger and thirst.

While the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore draws millions of visitors to the Munising area, the Soo Locks are especially popular in Sault Ste. Marie. The best way to experience the locks? By boat.

Experience a true maritime adventure on board with Original Soo Lock Tours. Ride up and down the Soo Locks while cruising the beautiful St. Mary's River right alongside big ships upon one of the company’s narrated tours.

According to the Sault Ste. Marie Visitors Bureau’s website: “Affectionately called the ‘Linchpin of the Great Lakes’ by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the Soo Locks are an engineering marvel with roots dating back to the mid-1800s. Each year it’s estimated that 500,000 people visit these iconic locks that connect Lakes Superior and Huron.”

When booking with Original Soo Lock Tours, save $3 off adult and children/students tickets (5-16 years). Children of ages 4 and under ride for free. Fireworks cruises are also offered on July 1st and July 4th. Visit www.originalsoolocktours.com for more information.
