Advertising, Cannabis, and Embroidery Services in Alger

The newest members of the Alger County Chamber of Commerce/Greater Munising Bay Partnership - Grannie of the Hood, Lume Cannabis Co. Christmas, and Upper Peninsula Trader - offer varying services like advertising, cannabis-based products, and embroidery.

Embroidery

Bevyjean Heryman is Grannie of the Hood, a new business that provides custom embroidery and wholesale items for local organizations like shirts, patches, hats and more. A retired nurse formerly employed by Alger Correctional Facility, Bevyjean told us at the Chamber that inmates used to call her “Grannie of the Hood” because of the jacket she wore in the courtyards. So, coming up for a name for her new endeavor was a no-brainer, she said.

The best way to contact Grannie of Hood is via email -grannieofthehood@gmail.com - as the business currently does not operate out of a storefront.

Cannabis

Adjacent to the Kewadin Casino in Christmas, Lume Cannabis Co. opened one of its newest stores (the other being in Manistique) in September. Lume is a Michigan-based cannabis company that produces its own flower, extracts, edibles, and CBD products in-house. This ensures that the focus is on quality above all else, according to store management.

Furthermore, the company provides good-paying jobs with full benefits packages to recruit and retain employees.

Lume Cannabis Co. Christmas – located at E7981 M-28 – is open Monday - Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.lume.com or Lume’s social media pages.

As the only directory for the entire U.P., the Upper Peninsula Trader produces and distributes a bi-monthly advertising publication throughout the region, as well as provides an interactive online directory. The company also helps businesses with branding, promotional products, and web design.
