Rekindle the Spirit 2021 and Other Holiday Events

Munising’s holiday celebration Rekindle the Spirit will be a hybrid event this year, with both in-person and virtual activities taking place.

Our office – the Alger County Chamber of Commerce - will rerun “The 12 Days of Rekindle” videos on social media beginning Dec. 1. Last year, we teamed up with the Munising Visitors Bureau and Cameron Media to create the series which consists of three to seven-minute videos featuring Santa, Mrs. Claus, Ebenezer Scrooge, and other holiday characters. Those who tune in will learn how to make traditional crafts, listen to holiday stories, and participate in other activities to celebrate the season.

Our office will also provide gift bags for children, which will be handed out on Dec. 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the former location of Huntington Bank - now owned by Peoples State Bank - at 101 W. Munising Ave.  In conjunction, PSB will host Santa, Mrs. Claus, and other favorite characters for children and their families to participate in a drive-up visit during that same timeframe. The Downtown Business Decorating Contest will also be conducted that night.

In place of the Rekindle Grand Giveaway, gift certificates sponsored by Alger County businesses will be randomly distributed throughout the area rewarding people for shopping locally. Keep an eye on our Facebook page or call the Chamber office at (906) 387-2138 for additional information.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be at American Legion Post 131, Munising - located at 610 W. Munising Ave. - on Dec. 4 from noon to 2 p.m. There’ll be hot dogs, pop, crafts, cookies, decorating activities and door prizes (must be present to win).

On Nov. 27, local retailers will be offering specials, deals and holiday fun for Small Business Saturday throughout the day.

Grand Marais will also hold various holiday celebrations. Along with businesses celebrating Small Business Saturday, there’ll be a Holiday Bazaar held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Grand Marais Community Center the same day that’ll have various crafts, baked goods, jellies, and other items from home-based business owners.
